“Are we there yet?”
YES! FINALLY! We have arrived in Thailand!! I don’t know who’s more ecstatic, us…or God!! I believe He says, “They finally made it! They finally passed the entrance exam! They’re ready for the next step.”
We arrived in Thailand six weeks ago! I have to convince myself of this because it feels like 3 months! We’ve been extremely busy, the learning curve has been very steep, and our already tired minds have been pushed to exhaustion.
Yet the most beautiful part of the last two months— exiting our house, getting down to Los Angeles with our few belongings, saying goodbye to family and close friends, letting go of the familiar, getting our luggage packed, flying for 28 hrs with 21 pieces of luggage plus lots of carryons, transferring the luggage to a train to be shipped up to northern Thailand, traveling for three weeks working on our visas (almost six weeks later and we still aren’t done!), bank accounts, phones, a pile of incomplete tasks in the US, and many other details as we integrate into a new life here—has been the joy of being with Jesus and trusting Him with EVERYTHING. Some call this abiding with Him and my anxious self can rest in that companionship, provision, and security.
“You will show me the path of life: in Your presence is fulness of joy; at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalm 16:11
The learning has been to trust Him through thick and thin. A thousand questions! “Did we bring the right things? We didn’t bring ____! Which visa should we apply for? How do we get our phones to work? Why can’t we get money from our bank? Why can’t I log into my web account? Will our car sell back in the US? What do we do with the things we left in the US? How are we going to survive without knowing Thai? What car should we buy? Where are we going to live? What do we do when we get there?….”
There are soooo many things that we don’t have the answer for, but we are with the One who has the answer and that is everything!! That means everything to us! There are so many unknowns and we can have great peace with a lot of major unknowns when we are with Jesus. Being in His company brings such peace and comfort. But it is that companionship that is so sweet! He gives us so many promises that he will show us our path. It’s a matter of discovering the beauty of that companionship and the sweetness of His love that has all our cares handled.
This morning in reflection on all the unknown in which we are living, I mused with great confidence, “We are in the right place!”
Are we there yet? Yes!! We are with Jesus, the best place ever!
Hallelujah! Amen and Amen.Praise the Lord 🙌👏
