Has God

Has God sent a hero or guardian angel to rescue you from a dangerous situation?

He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me, For they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. Psalm 18:16-19 NKJV
Bite-size Version
- This was supposed to be a short post đ đł đ€Ș … and it isn’t. 𫣠đ€Ł
- I got so inspired as I was thinking of what God is teaching me through this experience that I wrote a lot!
- On Monday, we went shopping at a farmer’s market as usual.
- I crossed the street first and wasn’t able to help Lucas cross.
- God sent an unexpected, unknown hero to help.
- We think we are rescuing the Thai people, but they are rescuing us!
- God is giving us so much love for the Thai people.
- I need to be constantly reminded that I am not supposed to figure everything out on my own.
- God wants me to hold His hand and follow His leading.
On Monday, after the children’s music lessons, we went shopping. As usual, I parked across the street from the market.I crossed first, and Lucas decided to follow once I had already reached the other side. Unfortunately, the heavy traffic prevented him from crossing. My heart sank, and a wave of helplessness washed over me. The relentless stream of vehicles felt like an impenetrable wall between us. Yet, in that moment, God encouraged me. He reminded me to trust that an opening would come, and all we had to do was wait patiently.
Unbeknownst to me, our predicament had caught the attention of bystanders. They watched as we struggled to reunite. Suddenly, a kind-hearted Grab delivery driver approached Lucas and, without hesitation, confidently took his hand. Relief and gratitude flooded through me as the man guided Lucas safely and swiftly across the street to my side. In my shock, I could only manage a heartfelt âthank youâ as the driver quietly walked away, needing neither recognition nor applause. He disappeared as quickly as he had arrived, leaving me wishing I could have captured his act of kindness in a photo to remember him by. But I knew this muchâGod had sent that man to help Lucas!
How often do we walk through life, unaware of the unseen hand guiding us through the storms? How many times has God, in His infinite mercy, pulled us back from the edge of our own sins, or smoothed the rough paths of our troubles, without us even realizing it? Itâs humbling to think that His rescue doesnât always come with fanfare or visible miraclesâsometimes, itâs in the quiet, subtle shifts of our circumstances, the things that âjust happen to work out.â
Perhaps itâs the misplaced purse that delays our departure, delaying us just long enough to avoid an accident we’ll never know about. (But we get lost in our frustration and anxiety.) Or maybe itâs the warmth of a strangerâs smile that unexpectedly brightens a challenging day. (If we take a moment to focus on the life in front of us instead of the tasks that overwhelm us.) These small moments remind me of how profoundly Godâs love is woven into the fabric of our livesâquietly and constantly, even when we fail to notice it, acknowledge it, or express our gratitude. His love rescues us endlessly, without expectation or demand for recognition. It is a steadfast, quiet love that works in ways we cannot always perceive.
And maybe, part of our journey is learning to recognize these quiet interventions. To pause and ask: “What might God have saved me from today? What blessings have I overlooked in His care for me?” Reflecting on these questions not only deepens our love and appreciation for God but also heightens our awareness of His constant presence in every moment of our lives.
Here’s Lucas’ account of the experience: “I saw a man approaching and thought he was going to cross the street too. But he took my hand and helped me cross. I was so shocked! I couldn’t believe someone would be so kind. I was so grateful for his help. I couldn’t have done it without him!”
This experience deepened our love and appreciation for the Thai people. We have had countless beautiful encounters, witnessing their kindness, care, thoughtfulness, generosity, and willingness to help. It feels as though God is binding our hearts to the Thai people, and theirs to us. Moments like these break down language barriers and enable us to see the Thai people as God sees them – precious and beloved.
There have been moments in life when weâve faced situations so overwhelming that they drove us to our knees in prayer. In those times, God has shown Himself as our Rescuer, our Provider, and our Shepherd. I often need the reminder that I am not meant to navigate lifeâs challenges on my own. God doesnât expect me to have all the answersâHe simply asks me to take His hand and trust in His guidance.
We are stepping into a profound season of faith, navigating a path that requires us to trust God in ways we never imagined. It is in these moments of surrender, when we walk in faith rather than sight, that God does His most transformative work within us. He is not only restoring His image in us, but He is also teaching us to see the worldâand ourselvesâthrough His eyes.
Through this deepened reliance on Him, we are becoming instruments of His grace, learning to reflect His love and truth more naturally and consistently in our lives. Every act of faith, no matter how small, is transforming me. With each step of trust and surrender, God gains greater access to my heart, shaping it and dwelling more fully within me. As we walk this path, we are reminded that it is not by our own strength, but by His power, that we are being made newâinto a clearer, more radiant reflection of His glory. I am excited by what God is doing because the more I spend time with Him, the more His love heals my heart, driving out the pain and sadness.
If you have a moment, listen to this hymn He Leadeth Me and reflect on the words.
Prayer Requests
- Pray for the salvation of that precious Grab driver, that he may know how much God loves him.
- Pray for our music school because they are in need of long-term music teachers or their school will close.
NOTE: This is a photo of the location and street, but not the day it happened. I was too shocked to record it in real time.
